Is there a minimum subscription period?

No, you can cancel any time without penalty with 30 days notice.

How do we pay?

The easiest is to set up a monthly payment via Stripe or you may prefer to pay 6 or 12 months in advance. With both options you’ll receive a valid invoice for your records.

Is the content kept up to date?

Yes, we amend content whenever there is a need such as changing legislation or events. We also add new content topics every two months, so content changes constantly, and will notify you directly each time this happens.

Can we edit and brand the content ourselves?

Yes, you can download the source files from the library so you can edit text or customize to your brand. We’re also happy to do this for you at no extra cost.

How can I keep track of the content I have already used?

Simply click the “Mark as published” link next to each item in the content list.

If you wish to remove an item from your list, click the “Published” text next to the content item. You can access this function at the bottom of each item page also.

Is the site optimized for SEO?

Yes, we have carefully selected the best and most popular small business topics that people search for online and blended in the most popular small business keywords. New content added every two months reflects the latest small business needs, meta tags and search terms.

Can we include our own information inside the content?

Yes, you can include your own text, images, links, calls to action; in fact anything.

Is there a disclaimer?

Yes, we provide a disclaimer you can use, or we suggest using your standard disclaimer, which we’ll add to any content we rebrand.

Is the content copyright free?

Yes, there is no per user cost and you can have as many people as possible access the content. Add it to your website, use it in social media, send it in e-newsletters, print it and hand it out.

Will the content be the same as other subscribers?

Yes, subscribers access the same content, it’s the only way we can deliver content at such a low cost. One solution is use the Business Content Library to access the ‘evergreen’ content (business planning, cash flow, financial management, templates and tools etc), edit and rewrite to your own voice, and then commission any custom content you need piece by piece (from us or other providers).

Can we get unique exclusive content?

Yes, we can create content tailored to your requirements in addition to the Business Content Library. Find out more here.

Can you help us re-brand the content if we don’t have in-house expertise?

Yes, we’re more than happy to help re-brand where needed. All we need are your brand guidelines.

Do you help with a content strategy?

Yes, we can work through who you are targeting and recommend a small business curriculum of topics. Treat us as part of your marketing team, pull up a virtual chair, and we’ll help you step by step.

Is there new content being added all the time?

Yes, each quarter we add new content into the Business Content Library topics.

Do you inform us when new content is available?

Yes, every two months we add new content into the Business Content Library. Articles, templates, guides and tools. Feel free to request a topic.

Is the Small Business Company logo or link to your website on any of the content?

No, as we prefer you are viewed as the content source and expert, not us, so there’s no TSBC logo or link to us.

What are the on-boarding or set-up costs?

Usually zero. If you wanted a formal content strategy, help with customer journey mapping and facilitating internal workshops, then we’d need to charge for this consultancy.

What does ‘white label’ mean?

We provide the content with no branding or labels. It means you can take the content and re-brand, add your own calls to action and links to your products and services.

What happens to the content if I cancel?

Unfortunately, you’d need to remove the content on your website, but any content inside social media channels or has been used by customers can remain. We’d be sad to see you go, but we’d not prevent small business owners using content if it helps.

Can I see all the content topics before I commit?

Yes, contact us for a demo and we’ll walk you through the dashboard.

Can you help us create a content plan to target our customer needs?

Yes. Part of our role is to work with you deciding what’s the best content for your specific needs.

Do you have any results you can share from working with other financial institutions?

Yes, there are a number from our client testimonials, but contact us for the latest data.

Is the content compliant with accessibility regulations?

Yes. Content is delivered as files you control (Word, PDF, Excel, Vimeo) and our interactive tools are fully accessible, complying with the global WCAG 2.0 Level AA guidelines.

Are the interactive tools mobile friendly?

Yes. All tools are responsive and designed for mobile first.

What training and services support do you offer?

Full on-boarding and training of the Library is included, and so is any content strategy help you may need, such as identifying customer targets and pain points, building a curriculum, web deployment, UX, and post deployment amplification.

Are there any content usage restrictions?

No. We encourage content to be used as much as possible (on your web site, sent in e-newsletters, used in banker/relationship manager training, in branch, social media posts).

Who writes the content?

We have a writing team across New Zealand, Canada and the US.

What’s the process for picking topics?

If you have an internal team, we’re happy you decide, or we can help suggest based on what we know is popular. As part of the subscription we can run a content strategy workshop to discuss your targets, pain points and recommend best practice topics.

Are these articles written with SEO best practices and keywords?

Yes. All content is carefully researched and integrates the latest search data. Content is refreshed every 12 months to reflect the changing needs of small business.

Do we need acknowledge The Small Business Company?

No. All content is copyright free and you do not need to source reference The Small Business Company (unless you wanted to). We prefer you don’t, as we want users to go back to your website.

Can we literally copy and paste content and then use on our site?

Yes 🙂

How does the customization and branding work for videos?

We amend the video files to match your brand color and logo, plus add intro and exit screens for calls to action.

How does the customization of the interactive tools work?

Our tools use bootstrap 4 and our own javascript, and jquery – currently we’re using vs 3.4.1. Customisation is mostly via css changes to style fonts, buttons and colors. The recommended method of embedding these is via iFrame so there is no need to load any particular javascript on the site, but we can. We’d have a tech call with your web team to confirm what suits them best.

What’s the difference between Everfi and the Business Content Library?

Everfi offer a standard content website which you as a financial institution link to (with some of your branding). Business owners are faced with a road block ‘you are leaving our site’ and are then taken to a new website which Everfi control. The whole point of adding content to your website is to keep customers on your website, not send them away. With our Business Content Library you login, take content that matches your targets, customize, re-brand and then deploy INSIDE your website.

How will AI impact content creation?

AI still isn’t a trusted source. A business owner is unlikely to rely on the answer AI gives to financial questions. For example ‘How do I pay less tax?’. AI also gives generic answers, for example ‘How do I improve profit in a retail business’ will result in advice such as (BTW we tried this) ‘optimize your pricing strategy, increase average transaction, optimize inventory management, develop a targeted marketing plan’ etc. But AI doesn’t tell you HOW.
